FAQ
What is the Judge Dredd & The Worlds of 2000 AD Tabletop Adventure Game?
Judge Dredd & The Worlds of 2000 AD is the official 2000 AD tabletop (pen-and-paper) roleplaying game. Players play characters through adventures which are run by a Game Master according to a set of rules which determines the outcome of their chosen actions. It is best played with a group of 4-5 people, with one of them taking on the role of Game Master.
What books do I need to start playing?
All you will need is the Judge Dredd & The Worlds of 2000 AD hardcover core rulebook. This book contains the core rules for the entire Worlds of 2000 AD line, as well as information on Judge Dredd and Megacity One. You will need this book in order to play in any of the additional worlds of 2000 AD, for which separate setting books will be released.
Why does the core rulebook focus on Judge Dredd and Mega-City One?
Dredd is the most iconic of the 2000 AD characters, and the character we felt it appropriate to start with. However, the rules content in the Judge Dredd & The Worlds of 2000 AD hardcover core rulebook is applicable to all 2000 AD settings.
What is WOIN?
WOIN, or What's OLD is NEW, is the game engine which powers Judge Dredd & The Worlds of 2000 AD. It is a dice-pool system which uses six-sided dice, with a life-path character creation system. You can find out more at the official website. Judge Dredd & The Worlds of 2000 AD is a standalone game, and does not require any other WOIN core rulebooks.
Do I need any WOIN core rulebooks such as NEW, OLD, or NOW?
No. You will only need the Judge Dredd & The Worlds of 2000 AD hardcover core rulebook. This contains all of the core rules of the game. Using this book, you can play or run a game in Megacity One. Using this book plus one Worlds of 2000 AD setting book will enable you to play in other 2000 AD settings.
Which settings will be covered?
2000 AD has dozens and dozens of settings. We list some of the more popular ones here. While we will not be able to cover all of them, we will be producing setting books and adventures for some. We will announce these in due course.
What will support for the line look like?
Starting with Judge Dredd, we will be covering major story arcs from the comic books in chronological order. The first of these will be The Robot Wars, in which the robots of Megacity One rise up in rebellion under the leadership of Call-Me-Kenneth. Each of these story arcs will contain the adventure, plus any new supporting rules material - for example, The Robot Wars will also contain in-depth information on robot player characters.
Some of the settings will only receive a single book; others will get adventure support, depending on their popularity with you, our readers!
Will you be producing miniatures?
No. We recommend that you get your miniatures from our friends at Warlord Games, who produce a range of miniatures for Judge Dredd and more.
